Applications are now open for the 2026 University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarship Award.

The University of Glasgow will award up to 15 scholarships to students from Africa who are starting a one-year postgraduate taught Master’s programme in the 2026/27 academic session. The scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees.

Although you do not need an offer to submit the scholarship application, you must hold an offer for a qualifying Master’s programme to be considered for interview. Therefore, applicants are strongly advised to apply for their chosen programme early.

Who Can Apply for the University of Glasgow African Excellence Award?

To be eligible for the University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

Demonstrate academic excellence equivalent to a UK First Class Honours degree
Be classified as an international (overseas) fee-paying student
Be domiciled in Africa
Show a clear career or development plan that will be supported by Master’s-level study
Be a student, alumni, or staff member of one of the University of Glasgow’s partner institutions in Africa
Be able to show proof of meeting UKVI living and maintenance costs by 30 June 2026 (only required if shortlisted and offered the scholarship)
